The world debut of the all-terrain vehicle took place at the end of April 2018 - as part of the international motor show in Beijing (however, its pre-premiere was held on February 1 at a special event in China). The car, the first among Chery models to receive a seven-seater version, put on an expressive "outfit", "armed" with modern technology and boasted a good level of equipment.
Chery Tiggo 8 looks really very attractive, fresh, original and brutal, and in its outline there is not even the slightest hint of plagiarism.
Impressive front end with a frown of lighting technology, a large "shield" of the radiator grille and a powerful bumper, a monumental silhouette with "muscular" stampings on the sidewalls, a flying sill line and rounded-square wheel arches, a beautiful stern with spectacular lamps and fake "pipes" in the bumpers in city traffic, the crossover will clearly attract a lot of attention.
The mid-size SUV is 4700 mm long, and its width and height are 1860 mm and 1746 mm, respectively. The wheelbase of the five-door is 2710 mm, and its ground clearance reaches 200 mm.
The "travel" weight of the car ranges from 1481 to 1541 kg (depending on the version).
Interior
Inside the Chery Tiggo 8, the first thing that catches the eye is the non-trivial architecture of the front panel with an original designed center console, crowned with a 9-inch media center screen and a stylish climate control unit.
The three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a "chubby" rim, and a modern instrument cluster with a color display in the middle and two analog "splashes" do not stand out from the general style.
The five-door interior boasts high-quality ergonomics and a solid level of performance.
In the "base" the crossover has a five-seat layout of the decoration. Front riders rely on comfortable chairs with well-developed lateral support rollers, moderately dense "insides" and wide ranges of adjustments, and the second row is able to please its occupants with a comfortable sofa, flat floor and a normal amount of free space.
For a surcharge for the car, a double "gallery" is offered, but it is suitable only for children.
The trunk volume of the five-seater version of Chery Tiggo 8 varies from 892 to 1930 liters (when loaded under the ceiling), and in the seven-seater version - from 193 to 1930 liters (with the seats of the two rear rows folded into a flat area). In a niche under the raised floor, the SUV has an additional niche for small things and tools, while a small spare wheel on a stamped disc is attached under the bottom.
Specifications
In the Russian market, Chery Tiggo 8 is "armed" with two four-cylinder gasoline engines with an in-line layout to choose from:
- The first option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing technology and 16-valve timing, producing 147 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 210 Nm of peak thrust at 1750-4000 rpm.
- It is followed in the hierarchy by a 2.0-liter unit with a turbocharger, a distributed "power supply" system, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable valve timing technology, which produces 170 hp. at 5500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 2000-4500 rpm.
The "junior" engine works in tandem with a 6-band preselective "robot", while the "senior" is docked exclusively with a continuously variable CVT9 variator. In both cases, the entire power reserve goes to the wheels of the front axle, and an all-wheel drive transmission is not provided even for a surcharge.
It is worth noting that in China the car is offered with completely different gasoline turbo engines - a 1.5-liter TCI (156 hp and 230 Nm) and a 1.6-liter TGDI (197 hp and 290 Nm). The units are combined with a 6-range preselective "robot" and front-wheel drive.
Dynamics, speed and consumption
Acceleration from zero to the first "hundred" in a mid-size SUV takes 9.8-10 seconds, its maximum speed "rests" at 190-200 km / h.
Fuel consumption (AI-92 and higher) varies from 7.5 to 8.2 liters for every 100 km of run in the combined cycle.
Design features
At the heart of the Chery Tiggo 8 is a front-wheel drive "bogie" T1X with a monocoque body, to a large proportion of high-strength steel, and a transverse arrangement of the power plant.
The crossover has independent front and rear suspensions with hydraulic shock absorbers and lateral stabilizers: in the first case, a MacPherson type, and in the second, a multi-link architecture.
An active electric power steering is "implanted" into the rack and pinion steering gear of the car. All wheels of the "Chinese" are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated on the front axle) with ABS and EBD.
Options and prices
In the Russian market for Chery Tiggo 8, three versions are announced - Active, Family and Prestige (and if the 1.5-liter engine is installed only in the "top" configuration, then the 2.0-liter in all).
- For a crossover in the Active version, dealers ask for at least 1,719,900 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes: six airbags, air conditioning, a media center with a 10.25-inch screen, "leather" interior, a rear-view camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, cruise -control, rear parking sensors, heated front seats, fully LED optics, ABS, ESP, an audio system with four speakers, power windows for all doors and other options.
- A car in the Family configuration costs from 1,799,900 rubles, the privileges of which are: heated steering wheel and windshield, rain sensor, boot lid servo, third row of seats, dual-zone climate control and "music" with six columns.
- A five-door in the "top" performance Prestige with a 1.5-liter engine will cost from 1,799,900 rubles, and for the version with a 2.0-liter "turbo-four" you will have to pay at least 1,879,900 rubles. It boasts: front parking sensors, an eight-speaker audio system, all-round cameras, heated second-row seats and power folding mirrors.
