In November 2015, a public presentation of the new, tenth generation Honda Civic golf sedan will take place at the automotive industry exhibition in Los Angeles, but all the cards were laid out on the table on September 17 - it was then that the Japanese made the official announcement of the novelty. The car was transformed beyond recognition - it was dressed in fashionable "clothes", noticeably increased in size and received a modern technical component.

The exterior of the "tenth" Honda Civic 4D is made in the spirit of the concept coupe shown at the April auto show in New York. Muscular outlines of the body, original lighting technology, the passenger compartment shifted back, the sloping contours of the roof and a small "extension" of the trunk - from the classic sedan "Japanese" has turned into a stylish fastback that looks daring and dynamic.

From nose to tail, the Honda Civic sedan is stretched by 2630 mm, its width is 1798 mm, and its height is 1415 mm. Compared to the previous version, the car has become longer and wider by 73 mm and 45 mm, respectively, but lower by 20 mm.
Between the front and rear axles of the three-volume, there are 2700 mm, which is 30 mm more than the 9th generation model.

The interior in the tenth generation Civic 4D is made in a very traditional style, but with a hint of sportiness - the embossed "donut" of the multifunction steering wheel, the original "instrument panel" with a color display in the center and a strongly tilted center console with a multimedia center screen (diagonal of 5 or 7 inches) ) and auxiliary controls.

The front riders in the "tenth Civic" are assigned to optimally profiled seats with pronounced lateral support rollers. Back row passengers are provided with a comfortable sofa with a sufficient supply of space in all planes, and for added convenience, the transmission tunnel practically does not protrude into the cabin.

The luggage compartment of the 2016 Honda Civic Sedan with a wide and deep opening in the standard position holds 428 liters of luggage (compared to the previous model, the volume has increased by 20.8%).

A compact spare wheel and a set of tools are "registered" in the underground niche.

Specifications. In the North American market for the tenth generation Honda Civic in the sedan body, two four-cylinder petrol engines are offered:

  • The first is a 2.0-liter 16-valve atmospheric unit i-VTEC, developing 158 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 188 Nm of maximum torque at 4200 rpm. It works in conjunction with a 6-speed "mechanics" or a continuously variable variator, and on average "eats" from 6.7 to 7.6 liters in combined conditions for every 100 km of track.
  • The second is a 1.5-liter "turbo four" from the Earth Dreams VTEC Turbo series with a direct power system, the output of which is 174 "mares" at 6000 rpm and 220 Nm of torque in the range from 1700 to 5500 rpm. A CVT variator is assigned to the motor (new, not the one that comes with the "aspirated"). With such a "duet", the sedan exchanges the first "hundred" in less than 8 seconds, and consumes 6.7 liters of fuel in the combined cycle.

The 10th generation Honda Civic is built on a new modular bogie that uses high-strength grades of steel, aluminum and plastic components. Due to this, the car, in comparison with its predecessor, on average "lost" by 30 kg, and the torsional rigidity of the body increased by 23%.
The sedan is equipped with independent front suspension with MacPherson struts and rear multi-link architecture.
An electric power steering with a variable gear ratio is mounted on the steering rack, and all four wheels accommodate disc mechanisms of the brake system with a full set of modern "assistants" and an electronic system that simulates the operation of a limited-slip differential.

Options and prices. In the US, the tenth "release" of the Honda Civic sedan is priced at $ 18,640 for the base LX with a 2.0-liter engine, while the intermediate EX trim level with the same engine costs $ 2,400 more.
As standard, the car "flaunts" a single-zone "climate", front airbags, standard "music", LED daytime running lights and taillights, power windows for all doors, ABS, EBD and ESP systems and much more.
The "top" version of the EX-L with a "turbo four" is priced at a minimum of $ 23,700, and its functionality, among other things, is formed by LED head optics, a dual-zone climate system, a multimedia center with a 7-inch screen, leather trim and other equipment.

In Europe, sales of the "tenth Civic" will begin towards the end of 2016, but its appearance in Russia should not be expected - even the predecessor, due to the high price tag, was not in great demand in our country.
