Changan Alsvin is a front-wheel drive budget sedan of the compact segment (aka "C-class" by European standards), which combines a rather nice design, roomy interior decoration and good technical characteristics, and even for relatively affordable money ... , first of all, family men with a low level of annual income, who want to get "an inexpensive and unpretentious car for every day", for many of whom it will be the first foreign car after domestic cars ...

The official premiere of the compact sedan Changan Alsvin V7 (it is under this name it is known in its homeland - in China) took place back in October 2014 at the stands of the international auto show in Guangzhou, and soon after this event its sales began in the Chinese market. It is noteworthy that this three-volume was demonstrated to the Russian public, and twice - in the summer of 2016 and 2018, and in both cases - at the Moscow Auto Show.

Outwardly, Changan Alsvin, although it is not a "written handsome", but still has a very nice, balanced and laconic design, in which at least there are no contradictory solutions. A moderately aggressive front end with frowned headlights, a neat radiator grille and a raised bumper, a classic silhouette with expressive sides and correct strokes of wheel arches, an unpretentious stern with stylish lanterns and a "puffy" bumper - the sedan looks no better, but certainly no worse than most "Classmates".

Size and weight

In terms of its dimensions, Changan Alsvin is a representative of the compact class: its length is 4530 mm, height - 1498 mm, width - 1745 mm. The distance between the front and rear wheelsets is 2610 mm for the car, and its ground clearance is 155 mm.

When equipped, the four-door weighs from 1220 to 1240 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

The interior of the Changan Alsvin sedan looks attractive, sound enough and, no matter how surprising it may sound, not without a bit of solidity - a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a laconic instrument panel with several analog scales and a small board computer display, a solid center console with a protruding information screen, asymmetric ventilation deflectors and a scattering of buttons and controls that control the audio system and "microclimate".

Only budget materials were used in the interior decoration, although the level of performance here is quite at a good level.

In the front of the cabin of the compact sedan, there are seats with an unobtrusive side profile, a minimum number of adjustments and optional heating. On the second row there is a fairly comfortable sofa, but without any additional amenities (there is no armrest, no cup holders, no ventilation deflectors), and a normal supply of free space.

The trunk of Changan Alsvin in normal condition is capable of taking up to 410 liters, which can hardly be called an outstanding indicator by the standards of the compact segment. "Gallery" is folded in a pair of unequal parts, opening a small opening for the transportation of long items.

By default, the sedan is equipped with a full-size spare wheel and the required minimum of tools.

Specifications

Under the hood of Changan Alsvin is an atmospheric gasoline unit with a displacement of 1.6 liters with four in-line cylinders, a distributed injection system, variable valve timing and a 16-valve DOHC timing belt, which produces 125 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque at 3500 -4500 rpm.

As standard, the engine is mated with a 5-speed "mechanics" and drive wheels of the front axle, however, as an option, it can be equipped with a 4-band hydromechanical "automatic".

How agile the car is in acceleration from zero to the first "hundred" and fast in general is not reported, but its fuel consumption varies from 6.5 to 6.9 liters for every 100 km of run in the combined cycle, depending on the type of gearbox.

Design features

At the heart of Changan Alsvin is a "front-wheel drive" architecture with a transversely located motor and a fairly wide use of high-strength grades of steel in the power structure of the body.

At the front, the sedan is equipped with an independent MacPherson-type suspension, and at the rear - with a semi-independent system on the trailing arms (both there and there - with anti-roll bars). The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering mechanism with an electric power steering, and disc brakes (on the front axle with ventilation), supplemented by ABS and EBD, are used on all its wheels.

Options and prices

It is expected that Changan Alsvin will appear on the Russian market in the first half of 2020 and will compete with such bestsellers as Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Volkswagen Polo and Lada Vesta, from which we can conclude that in our country they will ask for a Chinese sedan in the initial configuration ≈700-750 thousand rubles.

In the "base", the three-volume has: front airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, air conditioning, front and rear electric windows, 15-inch wheels, a multifunctional steering wheel, heating and electric mirrors, electric power steering and other options.
