The "hot" five-door with the "Type R" nameplate of the fourth generation, based on the 9th generation "civilian Honda golf class", officially debuted at the beginning of March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. I must say that the release of the novelty was somewhat delayed, because its appearance was expected back in 2014, during which the Japanese pampered the public with only pre-production concepts: the Civic Type R Concept was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, and the Concept II in Paris.

The appearance of the Japanese "lighter" turned out to be stylish and extremely aggressive. The front of the car is diluted with head optics of a complex geometric shape with LED strips extending almost along the entire perimeter, and a powerful bumper with large air intakes and a wide splitter.

The striking silhouette of the "fourth" Honda Civic Type R is imbued with swiftness and sportiness, and its individuality is given by a short sloping hood, side "skirts", "muscular" wheel arches that can accommodate original 19-inch discs, and a huge spoiler on the fifth door. The rear part looks no less impressive: there was a place for LED lights with original graphics, a raised bumper with an impressive diffuser and four exhaust pipes, as well as a large wing. All aerodynamic attributes not only play a decorative role, but also carry a high functional load - they contribute to the correct distribution of incoming air flows, improve downforce and provide better cooling of the engine and brake system elements.

The interior of the "charged" hatchback in its architecture and design repeats the "civilian" model, but endowed with sporty notes. The two-tier dashboard looks stylish and original, in its lower part there are three "deep wells", and in the upper part there is auxiliary information displayed on the trip computer display. The plump steering wheel, truncated at the bottom, fits well with the interior concept.

The center console of the Honda Civic Type R with an attractive design is distinguished by high ergonomics, and houses the "music" and "climate" control units. The Honda Connect entertainment complex with a color display and a dual-zone air conditioning system are optionally available for the hot hatch.

The interior of the Japanese "lighter" is finished with high-quality finishing materials with contrasting red inserts. The sporty essence of the car is emphasized by the gearshift lever with an aluminum ball and metal pedal pads.

The 4th generation Honda Civic Type R features bucket front seats with striking lateral bolsters for a snug and comfortable seating position. The rear sofa is exactly the same as on the "civilian" hatchback - a competent profile, a flat floor and a sufficient supply of space on all fronts.

"Charged Civic" Type R is, first of all, a "golf" -class hatchback with all that it implies. In the arsenal of the car there is a 477-liter luggage compartment with a convenient shape and the possibility of increasing to 1378 liters by folding the backrest of the rear sofa.

Specifications. Under the hood of the "hot" hatchback is installed the latest four-cylinder engine from the VTEC Turbo family with a volume of 2.0 liters, equipped with direct fuel injection, a turbocharger and VTEC variable valve timing technology. The unit develops a peak power of 310 horsepower at 6500 rpm, and its output is 400 Nm of torque, starting from 2500 rpm.
Together with the engine, a 6-speed "mechanics" is working, bringing down the entire supply of traction on the front axle, into which, in turn, a multi-disc mechanical differential lock is implanted.
From zero to 100 km / h, the Japanese "charge" shoots out in 5.7 seconds, and its top speed is 270 km / h - the best indicator among similar models.

The chassis of the "fourth" Honda Civic Type R is entirely made of aluminum. At the front, there are MacPherson struts with separate steering knuckles, which reduce power steering by 50%, and at the rear there is a twisting H-beam with a 180% increase in rigidity. The hatchback is equipped by default with electronically controlled shock absorbers and electric power steering. The braking system is responsible for effective deceleration with four-piston Brembo calipers and perforated ventilated discs with a diameter of 350 millimeters on the front wheels.

The "Extreme" Civic Type R has a sporty + R mode of the basic electronics, transforming the car into a "dynamic racing car, optimally suited for the racetrack." When activated, some components and systems adapt to the corresponding ride: the engine responds more vividly to the driver's actions, the suspension fills with stiffness, and the steering becomes noticeably more responsive.

Equipment and prices. In the Japanese market, sales of the fourth generation Honda Civic Type R will begin in the spring of 2015, the start of sales in Europe is scheduled for the summer, but there is no data on the prospects for the appearance of a hatchback in our country.
Prices for the "lighter" will be announced closer to the start of sales, but it is already known that its standard equipment will receive 19-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tires 235/35, preventive braking technology before obstacles at low speeds, regular "music", bucket seats and much other. An optional GT Pack will be offered, including a rain sensor, power mirrors, an 8-speaker audio system with a total output of 230 watts, dual-zone climate control, Honda Connect entertainment system, blind spot monitoring and other systems that will be responsible for safety ...
